‘Liberation Day’: Trump introduces sweeping new tariffs.
Tuesday marked a turning point: on what Donald Trump called “Liberation Day,” he announced broad new tariffs on all imports into the United States. A minimum tariff of 10% now applies to nearly every country, with additional “reciprocal” tariffs for countries running large trade surpluses with the U.S.
Markets had been anxiously awaiting this decision. The uncertainty around Trump’s trade plans had created tension for weeks. With the announcement now public, some of that uncertainty has been lifted. But questions remain: how will other countries respond? And what will be the long-term impact on global trade, inflation, and economic growth?
One thing is clear to us: in a world where traditional economic systems are under increasing pressure, the relevance of decentralized financial infrastructure continues to grow.
Circle going public – stablecoins hit the mainstream.
Circle, the company behind the USDC stablecoin, has announced plans to go public. This makes it the first major stablecoin issuer in the world to pursue a stock market listing. It’s a major milestone, showing that stablecoins have firmly entered the financial mainstream.
Circle joins a growing list of crypto companies going public in 2025. Until now, investment opportunities in this sector have been mostly reserved for private investors. This IPO opens the door for retail investors to participate in the growth of the stablecoin industry.
For investors, this creates new opportunities. Stablecoins have long played a key role in the crypto ecosystem — and now, investing directly in the companies behind them is becoming a reality.
Tokenization opens private markets to all.
While Circle is taking the traditional IPO route, crypto offers another path: tokenization. Instead of spending millions on a complex and time-consuming listing process, companies in the crypto space can launch a token — globally tradable, 24/7, and at a fraction of the cost.
This week, Robinhood CEO Vlad Tenev voiced his support for tokenization as a way to give retail investors access to influential companies that are currently private — like SpaceX, OpenAI, and Stripe. In his words: “Public markets aren’t what they used to be.” More and more companies are choosing to stay private, shutting out everyday investors.
Tokenization flips that script. It creates a new way to invest that’s more inclusive, cost-efficient, and globally accessible. It’s a clear example of how crypto technology can reshape traditional finance — far beyond the crypto world itself.
